Every four years, the major Science and Technology Studies academic societies from Europe and North America, EASST and 4S, gather for a joint meeting. That happened this year, where EASST-4S 2024 took place in Amsterdam. On July 19th, Ale Abdo and Marc Barbier organized the workshop Semantic, social, spatial and temporal network and cluster analyses of corpora with Cortext.

Participants learned how to obtain a corpus from the OpenAlex scholarly database by building a request with its web interface, then downloaded it as a CSV file to use with Cortext Manager. Each participant build a corpus around a query of their interest. After uploading the file, they treated the corpus with the Sashimi suite of methods (Prepare corpus → Domain modeling → Domain maps) and explored the results to understand how to read and interpret them, with assistance from the tutor.
We were thrilled to have this opportunity and to provide a chance for STS scholars from around the globe to learn about Cortext Manager. And we might do this again with other conferences!
